Easy Infinity Scarf

So the other day I was bored so I decided that I was going to go through my big bag of fabric and make something.... I found a long piece of fabric and decided it would make a cute scarf!
I really like infinity scarfs, but I don't really have any so I decided that that was what I was going to make!

I cut a piece of fabric 25inx75in. and it seems to be the perfect length! and then the rest is all easy on the sewing machine...
I just zigzagged the edges to keep from fraying then just hemmed them in. Then I took the two smaller ends and sewed them together, and it was done! I think I might make a few more... They're really cute but so easy! I have confidence that anyone can make one, even if you've never sewed before!

Kraftiness in the Kitchen

So this coming school year, I am living in a townhouse with three other fabulous ladies and we're all really excited! We will each have our own room, with 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. So in preparation for this fall, I have been thinking of fun things to make that can be useful in our house!

Since we won't have the same unlimited meal plans as before, we will be doing a lot of cooking... which means that we will need cooking utensils. I decided to make some fun cooking tools :)

I took wooden spoons and a wooden spatula and gave them a little twist....
It's SUPER simple too!
I got the spoons and spatula at the dollar store and used paint I already had.. So this whole project only cost me 2 dollars! All I did was wrap tape around the handles where I wanted the paint to go to- that way it would make a nice even line all around the handle. Then I just picked some of my favorite colors of my non-toxic acrylic paint and painted the ends. After they dried, I just took some clear spray paint and sprayed ONLY the ends to make sure the paint stayed on. and that's all! Really easy but very cute :)

Happy crafting!

My Favorite Sewing Creation

Okay so last summer I learned how to sew and I've made a few things here and there ever since.. but this was by far my most challenging project, especially because I did it all on my own and didn't really have a pattern.
I wish that I could make a tutorial on here for how to do it, but since it was sort of a trial run for me, I ran into a few bumps and trying to make a tutorial would have been pretty difficult! However, I followed this tutorial to make it... it's pretty good although there are definitely some loop holes I think. Also, it's kind of confusing because it connects you to another tutorial for the finishing of the skirt, however, it is definitely do-able!
It never really explains how to finish the pockets, which is a problem I ran into! So I guessed on the pockets, ended up doing them wrong... then I thought that the waist wasn't big enough (which made no sense because I measured it over and over again) so I altered it a bit to realize that my pockets were off! So once I fixed those, then the waist was big enough so I had to rip the seams of the alterations I made. So after many hours, I thought I was finally done....
Unfortunately I tried it on and it did not fit, it was too tight. I was convinced that I could make it fit since I spent so many hours on it (even though my mother told me otherwise and tried to tell me that 'you win some and lose some'). I was not giving up! So I decided to add some inserts into the sides since the waist fit great, but it was tight around the donk :) So thankfully, after sewing all day, around 12:15 a.m., my skirt fit! I really like it too and it was fun to make! So here it is...

and now that I know how to do it, I think I might make one in a more bold color... I chose khaki so that it would match more, but I like the bright orange/yellow in the tutorial I followed!
This skirt made its debut at my brothers graduation from West Virginia University! (Congrats Dave!) So I was excited to get to finally wear my masterpiece :)

Hope you enjoyed :) and if you have any questions let me know!

It's been a while...

Since I was in school, I didn't have much time for crafts, but now I'm back with plenty of time this summer! :) I haven't done a ton yet, but I have a long list to get through! I've sewed a few items; a dress and skirt, but those will be posted at a later date. For now I just have a small little craft update!

A ring/earring organizer...

I got this at Goodwill a while ago with a friend and couldn't think of what to do with it.
Well, I have a lot of rings and decided that it would be nice to have some place to organize them...
So I decided that this would be a good ring holder.. So I got some material and just started rolling it into different sections... like this...
After I made about six or so, I stacked them together.
Put some hot glue in the box, and stick the fabric inside!
 So it looks like this...

There were nine sections on this, but I decided that I only wanted three of them to be for rings... I can always add more later if I change my mind.
I did a little paint job...
and here is the final product!

It's pretty simple and isn't a super exciting tutorial, but I really like it. It's an easy way to go through my rings and stud earrings. Hopefully I will have more craft updates on here soon!
